Osteopathy is a holistic, hands-on approach. Imbalances, muscular tension and restrictions within the tissues and joints are identified through careful palpation and addressed using targeted manual techniques.
Osteopathic treatment focuses on functional restrictions and aims to restore optimal mobility throughout the musculoskeletal system. Mobilisation techniques can help improve the interaction between joints, muscles and surrounding tissues, while also taking into account the relationship between the musculoskeletal system and the internal organs.
The treatment is designed to support the body’s natural self-regulating and healing processes.
Specialised Osteopathy
The craniosacral system – comprising the skull (cranium), spine and sacrum, together with the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) – is characterised by subtle rhythmic movements that are believed to influence the body as a whole.
Using gentle contact at the cranium and sacrum, craniosacral techniques aim to release restrictions and support the natural flow and balance of the cerebrospinal fluid. The treatment is designed to support the body’s natural self-regulating and healing processes.
Visceral osteopathy focuses on the internal organs (viscera) and their surrounding structures. The organs are supported and connected by layers of connective tissue (fascia), where tension and restrictions can develop.
Using specialised manual techniques, visceral osteopathy aims to address restrictions in the natural mobility of the organs and their surrounding tissues.
The treatment is designed to support the body’s natural self-regulating and healing processes.
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy uses manual treatment techniques to support and restore your horse’s health, mobility and performance.
Treatment may include massage techniques, fascial therapy and stretching exercises, as well as specialised physical therapy modalities.
The aim is to improve muscle function and joint mobility while supporting your horse’s overall fitness and physical well-being.
Acupressure originates from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is used as a complementary and supportive treatment method.
Through the targeted application of pressure to specific acupressure points, this gentle technique aims to support the horse’s overall well-being and complement other therapeutic treatments.
Stress point massage is a targeted deep-tissue massage technique. It aims to regulate muscle tone and support healthy metabolic processes within the tissues.
By applying focused pressure to specific areas of muscular tension, the technique can promote noticeable relaxation of the muscles and contribute to the horse’s overall comfort and well-being.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is an integral part of physiotherapeutic and osteopathic treatment and can be used for prevention, therapy and rehabilitation.
All physical therapy modalities listed below are DOPING-FREE, FREE FROM SIDE EFFECTS and REQUIRE NO SEDATION.
The treatments are designed to be gentle and comfortable, allowing horses to relax during and after each therapy session.
My Physical Therapy Services
Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment method that can be used as a supportive therapy for acute and chronic skin conditions, joint inflammation, tendon and ligament injuries, osteoarthritis and wounds.
The focused laser light is applied to the affected area and is designed to stimulate cellular processes and support tissue metabolism.
During PEMF therapy, electromagnetic fields are applied to the body and penetrate both bone and soft tissue. The treatment is intended to support circulation within the tissues and stimulate cellular metabolic processes.
PEMF therapy is also used to support the body’s natural regenerative processes and overall well-being.
NeuroStim applies mechanical vibrations externally through the surface of the skin. This non-invasive method can be used as part of preventive care, therapeutic treatment and rehabilitation.
The gentle vibrations produced by the NOVAFON sound wave device can be used to address muscular tension and areas of tightness.
During and after treatment, the vibrations can help stimulate and relax the muscles. This makes NOVAFON therapy particularly suitable for preparing the muscles before training or supporting recovery and regeneration after exercise.
Balance pads are used to improve and stimulate the horse’s balance, coordination and body awareness.
They also activate the deep stabilising muscles, particularly those of the core and back. These muscles play an important role in supporting posture, stability and controlled movement.
Heat therapy works through thermal and biochemical effects on the body via the skin. It is an excellent complementary treatment for relaxing the muscles and supporting the horse’s overall comfort and well-being.
Please note: I do not offer moist heat therapy, as it is not always possible to prevent the horse from cooling down after treatment, which may potentially have the opposite of the intended effect.
Dry Needling
Equine Dry Needling is a targeted treatment for myofascial trigger points – small, localised areas of tightness and tension within the muscles – using sterile, single-use acupuncture needles.
The aim of the treatment is to release muscular tension and improve local circulation, helping to relieve discomfort and restore mobility.
I practise the Schachinger Equine Dry Needling Method, which goes beyond the treatment of individual trigger points. The technique also includes needling along muscle fibres, as well as specific layers of the skin and superficial fascial structures.
Dorn Therapy
Dorn Therapy is a gentle manual technique used to address misalignments and functional restrictions involving the vertebrae, joints, pelvis, ribs, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and sternum.
This holistic approach aims to improve alignment throughout the musculoskeletal system and support the restoration of balanced posture and body mechanics.
Important:
Osteopathy and physiotherapy are not a substitute for veterinary treatment in cases of acute health problems.
